Although Mitias and his clinics entered into a health care fraud settlement with the United States, Mitias and his clinics refused to agree to compliance-related oversight with HHS-OIG through a CIA. Therefore, as part of the Settlement Agreement, OIG reserved the right to exclude Mitias and his clinics for the alleged conduct. Because Mitias refused appropriate integrity obligations, OIG may use various tools to monitor Mitias and his clinics’s compliance with the Federal health care programs.

Mitias Orthopaedics, PLLC, it’s owner Dr. Hanna “Johnny” Mitias, and a subsidiary Champion Orthopedics, have agreed to pay $1,870,714.83 to resolve allegations the orthopedic health services providers knowingly submitted false claims to Medicare and Medicaid, the Department of Justice announced today.
