Audits of Strategic National Stockpile Sites
The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is a repository of medical countermeasures for use during public health emergencies. Prior OIG audits identified systemic issues that could place the SNS inventory at risk. In 2018, oversight of the SNS was transferred from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). We plan to conduct a series of audits to determine whether ASPR established adequate controls for maintaining: (1) physical security over SNS sites and (2) records of inventory.
