Medicare Compliance Review of Wing Memorial Hospital for Calendar Years 2009 and 2010

Wing Memorial Hospital (the Hospital), located in Palmer, Massachusetts, complied with Medicare billing requirements for 113 of the 172 claims we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for the remaining 59 claims, resulting in overpayments totaling approximately $89,000 for CYs 2009 through 2010. Overpayments occurred primarily because the Hospital did not have adequate controls to prevent incorrect billing of Medicare claims.
