Medicare Compliance Review of St. Vincent's Medical Center for Calendar Years 2009 and 2010

St. Vincent's Medical Center (the Hospital), operating in Jacksonville, Florida, complied with Medicare billing requirements for the majority of the claims we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for 52 of the 207 claims reviewed, resulting in estimated overpayments totaling at least $3.2 million for calendar years 2009 and 2010. These overpayments occurred primarily because the Hospital did not have adequate controls to prevent incorrect billing of these Medicare claims.
