Medicare Compliance Review of Good Samaritan Medical Center

Good Samaritan Medical Center (Good Samaritan), operating in Brockton, Massachusetts, complied with Medicare billing requirements for 50 of the 262 inpatient and outpatient claims we reviewed. However, Good Samaritan did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for the remaining 212 claims, resulting in net overpayments of approximately $840,000 for calendar years 2010 and 2011. Overpayments occurred primarily because Good Samaritan did not have adequate controls to prevent the incorrect billing of Medicare claims within the selected risk areas that contained errors.
