Medicare Compliance Review of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the Period January 1, 2008, Through June 30, 2011

Issued on  | Posted on  | Report number: A-09-12-02048

Report Materials

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (the Hospital), located in California, complied with Medicare billing requirements for 81 of the 490 inpatient and outpatient claims we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for the remaining 409 claims, resulting in overpayments of $2.2 million for the period January 1, 2008, through June 30, 2011. These overpayments occurred primarily because the Hospital did not have adequate controls to prevent the incorrect billing of Medicare claims within the selected risk areas that contained errors.
