The Hawaii Department of Human Services (State agency) did not always comply with Federal and State requirements when claiming Federal Medicaid reimbursement for nonemergency medical transportation services furnished by taxi providers. Specifically, the State agency improperly claimed Federal reimbursement of $495,000. In addition, the State agency did not correctly report on the Form CMS-64 the amount of taxi expenditures that were eligible for Federal reimbursement.
