Baptist Medical Center South Complied With Most Medicare Requirements for Billing Inpatient and Outpatient Services for Calendar Years 2009 and 2010
Baptist Medical Center South (the Hospital), located in Alabama, complied with Medicare billing requirements for 179 of the 222 inpatient and outpatient claims we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for the remaining 43 claims resulting in net overpayments totaling $243,000. Based on our stratified random sample results, we estimated that the Hospital received about $1.8 million in overpayments for CYs 2009 and 2010.
