Wolfe Eye Clinic Agreed to Pay $98,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Medically Unnecessary Injections
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Wolfe Eye Clinic, P.C. (Wolfe Eye), Iowa, agreed to pay $98,660.79 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Wolfe Eye submitted claims for intravitreal Lucentis injections based on diagnoses of myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV) that were not medically reasonable and necessary. In each instance, the MCNV diagnosis was initiated by a physician formerly employed by Wolfe Eye and was not supported by the medical record.
