Waccamaw Dermatology Agreed to Pay $160,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims that Did Not Meet Medicare Requirements for Locum Tenens Coverage

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Waccamaw Dermatology, LLC (Waccamaw), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, agreed to pay $160,035.65 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Waccamaw submitted claims for dermatopathology services provided by a physician under the National Provider Identification number of another physician with the Q6 modifier for locum tenens coverage, when the claims did not meet Medicare requirements for locum tenens coverage.
