Visiting Nurse Health System Agreed to Pay $104,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by an Unlicensed Individual

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Visiting Nurse Health System, Inc. (VNHS), Georgia, agreed to pay $104,981.46 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that VNHS submitted claims to Medicare and Georgia Medicaid for services provided by an unlicensed registered nurse. Single damages were calculated as the full salary and benefits paid to the nurse during the period she worked without a valid license.
