Two Florida Medical Centers Agreed to Pay $1.4 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Upcoded Dialysis Services

After they self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Naples HMA, LLC d/b/a Physicians Regional Medical Center-Pine Ridge and Physicians Regional Medical Center-Collier Boulevard (collectively, “Naples HMA”), Florida, agreed to pay $1,465,856.16 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Naples HMA billed Medicaid for emergent dialysis services as inpatient dialysis services when they should have been billed as episodic dialysis visits.
