The Hospitals of Providence Agreed to Pay $726,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration in the Form of Free Marketing Services

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Tenet Hospitals Limited d/b/a The Hospitals of Providence (THOP), Texas, agreed to pay $726,246 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that THOP paid remuneration to physicians in the form of free marketing services provided by THOP’s teen centers to induce the physicians to refer services to THOP’s hospitals.
