Surgery Center at Health Park Agreed to Pay $1.1 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration in the Form of Ownership Shares

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Surgery Center at Health Park, LLC (SCHP), Michigan, agreed to pay $1,197,000 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that SCHP paid remuneration to an investor group in the form of additional ownership shares in SCHP that if offered and issued to the investor group based on the volume and value of the investor group’s future referrals.
