St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital Agreed to Pay $232,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration to Physicians in the Form of Disproportionate Compensated Service

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, VHS San Antonio Partners, LLC, d/b/a St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital (St. Luke’s), Texas, agreed to pay $232,200 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law provisions applicable to kickbacks. OIG alleged that St. Luke’s paid remuneration to two physicians in the form of a disproportionate amount of compensated orthopedic surgery emergency on-call coverage.
