Sharp Healthcare Agreed to Pay $153,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Employing an Excluded Individual

On December 30, 2024, Sharp Healthcare (Sharp), San Diego, California, entered into a $153,072.64 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Sharp employed an individual who was excluded from participating in any Federal health care program. OIG’s investigation revealed that the excluded individual, a nurse, provided items or services that were billed to Federal health care programs. Special Legal Advisor - Reviewing Official Nicole Caucci represented OIG.
