Scott Sawyer Agreed to Be Excluded for 10 Years for Falsifying Prior Authorizations to Increase Medicaid Reimbursement

On May 25, 2022, Scott Sawyer (Sawyer), Venice, Florida, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 10 years.  The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Sawyer, through Tri-State Medical Supplies, knowingly inflated the amounts on invoices submitted to Oklahoma Medicaid for prior authorization of durable medical equipment to improperly increase reimbursement for those items.  Senior Counsel Karen Glassman represented OIG.
