Presence Chicago Hospitals Network Agreed to Pay $577,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration in the Form of Free or Below Fair Market Value Space, Services, and Staff
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Presence Chicago Hospitals Network (PCHN), Illinois, agreed to pay $577,433.52 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that: (1) PCHN’s hospital Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (PSMEMC) provided free or below fair market value space and medical record copying services to a physician; (2) PSMEMC provided free or below fair market value space to a physician and his medical practice; and (3) PCHN’s hospital Presence Saint Joseph Hospital – Chicago provided free or below fair market value space, equipment, furniture, technology, and staff to a physician.
