Option Care Health Agreed to Pay $719,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Improper Remuneration in the Form of Referral Based Compensation
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Option Care Health, Inc. f/k/a BioScrip, Inc., Option Care Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Option Care, BioScrip Infusion Services, LLC d/b/a BioScrip Infusion Services, and East Goshen Pharmacy, LLC d/b/a BioScrip Infusion Services (collectively, “Option Care”), headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois, agreed to pay $719,265 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Option Care paid remuneration to a health care system and a physician practice in the form of compensation for physician services that varied with the volume of parental infusion therapy services referred to Option Care by the health care system and the physician practice, where the physician services were reimbursable separately.
