MedLab, Qutub Farooqui, and Arshadullah Syed Agreed to Pay $3.7 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Failing to Prorate Travel Mileage

On December 20, 2023, MedLab Inc., Qutub Farooqui, and Arshadullah Syed (collectively, “MedLab”), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, entered into a $3,729,501.64 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that MedLab failed to properly prorate travel mileage claims that were submitted to Medicare Part B under HCPCS Code P9603. Senior Counsel Jonathan Culpepper, with the assistance of Program Analyst Mariel Filtz, represented OIG.
