Med First Immediate & Family Care Agreed to Pay $58,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Non-Covered Services
On November 9, 2021, Med First Immediate & Family Care PA (Med First), Raleigh, North Carolina, entered into a $58,699 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Med First submitted claims to Medicare for specimen validity testing (SVT) in conjunction with claims for urine drug testing when SVT was a non-covered service. OIG's Office of Audit Services and Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, represented by Senior Counsels Joan Matlack and Scott Stiefel with the assistance of Paralegal Specialist Jennifer Hilton, collaborated to achieve this resolution.
