Lorien Nursing & Rehab Center-Elkridge Agreed to Pay $117,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by Unlicensed Individuals

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Lorien Life Center-Howard II, Inc. d/b/a Lorien Nursing & Rehab Center-Elkridge (Lorien Elkridge), Elkridge, Maryland, agreed to pay $117,064.33 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Lorien Elkridge submitted claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services provided by sixteen unlicensed nursing assistants. Single damages were calculated as the full salary and benefits paid to the individuals during the period they worked without a valid license.
