Legacy Health Agreed to Pay $709,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Sleep Study Services Not Provided and Paying Remuneration in the Form of Compensation for Services Not Provided

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Legacy Health, Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center, Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, and Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center (collectively, ōLegacyö), with locations in Oregon, agreed to pay $709,462.14 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Legacy: (1) billed outpatient sleep study services by a physician that were not provided; and (2) paid remuneration to that physician in the form of compensation for the services that the physician did not provide.
