After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Lee Memorial Health System (Lee Health), Florida, agreed to pay $1,766,809.40 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Lee Health submitted false claims for medically unnecessary bariatric surgical procedures performed by an independent practitioner at a Lee Health hospital.
