Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Agreed to Pay $587,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by Unlicensed Individuals

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, LLC (LCRH), Kentucky, agreed to pay $587,425.58 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that LCRH submitted claims for services provided by an unlicensed social worker and an unlicensed behavioral health therapist. Single damages were calculated as the full salary and benefits paid to the social worker and the therapist during the period they worked without a valid license.
