Genesis Behavioral Services Agreed to Pay $100,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Improper Remuneration in Exchange for Referrals
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Genesis Behavioral Services (Genesis), Euclid, Ohio, agreed to pay $100,000 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Gensis paid remuneration to Qualified Behavioral Health Specialists (QBHSs) in return for recruiting new QBHSs who referred their clients to Genesis for mental health outpatient treatment services, some of which were paid for, in whole or in part, by Medicare and Medicaid.
