Dr. Gabriel Gonzalez Carabello Agreed to Pay $351,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Receiving Remuneration in the Form of a Space Lease Arrangement, Salaries, and Supplies

After they self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Gabriel Gonzalez Carabello, M.D., California, agreed to pay $351,421.50 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Dr. Carabello received remuneration from a medical center in the form of a sham space lease arrangement, where Dr. Carabello paid the medical center rental payments and the medical center reimbursed Dr. Carabello for the rental payments in cash. OIG also contended that Dr. Carabello received remuneration from the medical center in the form of payments for salaries of certain employees of Dr. Carabello and office and medical supplies.
