Dr. Feng Qin Agreed to Be Excluded for 4 Years for Performing Medical Procedures that Lacked Medical Necessity

On February 25, 2021 Dr. Feng Qin, New York, New York, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 4 years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Dr. Qin performed medical procedures that lacked medical necessity to bill Medicare for reimbursement. Specifically, OIG alleged that Dr. Qin performed fistulagrams and angioplasties on Medicare beneficiaries which were not supported by clinical evidence of need, and therefore were not reasonable and necessary for diagnosis or treatment. Senior Counsel James Hansen represented OIG.
