Carolina Medical Associates Agreed to Pay $27,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by an Individual Revoked by Medicare

On July 23, 2024, Caromed, Inc. d/b/a Carolina Medical Associates (CMA), Charlotte, North Carolina, entered into a $27,534.17 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that CMA submitted false claims to Medicare for services provided by an employed physician whose Medicare privileges had been revoked by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Senior Counsel James Hansen represented OIG.
