Carl Edmiston Agreed to Be Excluded for 5 Years for Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Prescriptions
On February 8, 2022, in connection with the resolution of his False Claims Act liability, Carl Edmiston (Edmiston), Pensacola, Florida, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 5 years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Edmiston, as an independent contractor for a pharmacy, was paid a commission for prescriptions that were written by his sons and sent to the pharmacy. Edmiston then made payments to his sons. These payments caused tainted claims to be submitted to Federal health care programs. Senior Counsel Christina McGarvey represented OIG.
