Brian August, MD Agreed to Be Excluded for 15 Years for Issuing Prescriptions that Did Not Have a Legitimate Medical Purpose

On December 12, 2025, in connection with the resolution of his False Claims Act and Controlled Substance Act liability, Brian August, M.D. (August), El Paso, Texas, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 15 years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that August issued controlled substance prescriptions that were not prescribed for a legitimate medical purpose and were not eligible for reimbursement by Medicare or Texas Medicaid.
