Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Helps Secure 60-Month Prison Sentence And Nearly $5 Million In Restitution For Health Care Fraudster

An investigation by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Medicaid Fraud Control has secured a 60-month federal prison sentence for Rene Fernandez Gaviola, a Houston dentist at the center of a $6.9 million fraud scheme. Gaviola will also serve three years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay $4,908,957 in restitution to Medicaid in addition to a personal money judgment of $2,996,092.
