OBJECTIVE
Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), Congress allocated a total of $3.5 billion over 5 years to the Indian Health Service Sanitation Facilities Construction (SFC) Program to provide American Indian and Alaska Native people with essential water supply, sewage disposal, and solid waste disposal facilities. We will review data for IIJA-funded SFC projects in Alaska from October 2021 through April 2026, to: (1) summarize Alaska Area’s IIJA funding allocations and disbursements made and (2) highlight any challenges that Alaska Area has faced in administering SFC Program projects and actions it has taken to address those challenges.
