University of Miami Health System Agreed to Pay $289,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services that Did Not Meet Conditions of Payment
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, the University of Miami d/b/a University of Miami Health System (UMHS), Florida, agreed to pay $289,573.50 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that UHMS submitted claims for services of an assistant at surgery in a teaching hospital for employed physicians that did not meet the conditions of payment.
