Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center Agreed to Pay $297,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by an Uncredentialed Provider

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center, Inc. (TMW), California, agreed to pay $297,352.14 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that TMW improperly billed Federal health care programs for alcohol and drug counseling services performed by various uncredentialed providers under an NPI number for a credentialed provider without her knowledge, as if she had provided the services. OIG also alleged that TMW improperly billed Federal health care programs for psychology services performed by a doctor who was at the time not a credentialed provider, under the NPI of the same credentialed provider above, without her knowledge, as if she has provided the services.
