St. Joseph’s Hospital Agreed to Pay $729,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration in the Form of Free or Below Market Value Space, Equipment, and Services
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Carondelet Health Network d/b/a St. Joseph’s Hospital (St. Joseph’s), Arizona, agreed to pay $729,629.82 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law including provisions applicable to physician self-referrals and kickbacks. OIG alleged that St. Joseph’s paid remuneration to five physicians in the form of free or below market value space, equipment, and services.
