Sitka Community Hospital Agreed to Pay $4.1 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration in the Form of Excessive Compensation
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, the City and Borough of Sitka, formerly doing business as Sitka Community Hospital, a Department of the City and Borough of Sitka (Sitka), Alaska, agreed to pay $4,125,552 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law provisions applicable to kickbacks. OIG alleged that Sitka paid remuneration to providers in the form of (1) excessive compensation under Emergency Department call coverage arrangements; and (2) excessive compensation under advance practice providers arrangements.
