Rasha Morad, MD Agreed to Pay $345,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Ordering Durable Medical Equipment and Genetic Tests

On September 1, 2023, Rasha A. Morad, M.D. (Dr. Morad), Carmel, California, entered into a $345,380 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Dr. Morad solicited and received remuneration, in the form of monetary payments related to purported telemedicine consultations, from various telemedicine and staffing companies in exchange for ordering medically unnecessary durable medical equipment and genetic testing for Medicare beneficiaries she never examined and with whom she had no physician-patient relationship. Senior Counsels Katie Fink and James Hansen with the assistance of Chief Investigator Amber Mahmood, represented OIG.
