Novus Clinic Agreed to Pay $50,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration to Physicians in the Form of Profit Distributions
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, System Optics, LLC f/k/a System Optics, Inc. d/b/a Novus Clinic (Novus Clinic), Ohio, agreed to pay $50,000 or allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged Novus Clinic paid remuneration to three physicians (Owners), in the form of year-end profit distributions from an ambulatory surgical center (ASC) owned by Novus Clinic. The ASC profits were distributed to the Owners based, in part, on the facility fees generated by each Owner.
