After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Mountain Orthopaedics, L.L.C. (Mountain Ortho), Utah, agreed to pay $448,938 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Mountain Ortho paid remuneration to physicians by allocating and paying monies distributed by an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) that were based on the volume or value of their referrals to induce their referrals to the ASC.
