Mangesh Kanvinde, MD Agreed to Be Excluded for 15 Years for Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Ordering Genetic Tests and Durable Medical Equipment

On August 12, 2022, in connection with the resolution of his False Claims Act liability, Mangesh Kanvinde, M.D., Batavia, Kentucky, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 15 years. OIG’s investigation revealed that Dr. Kanvinde received illegal remuneration from locum tenens and telehealth companies in exchange for medically unnecessary DME and genetic testing referrals for Medicare beneficiaries with whom he had no physician-patient relationship.
