Lorien Mt. Airy Agreed to Pay $46,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by Unlicensed Individuals
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Carenet Health Systems and Services, Inc. d/b/a Lorien Mt. Airy (Lorien Mt. Airy), Mt. Airy, Maryland, agreed to pay $46,580.18 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Lorien Mt. Airy submitted claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services provided by five unlicensed nursing assistants. Single damages were calculated as the full salary and benefits paid to the individual during the period they worked without a valid license.
