Lois Obert Agreed to Be Excluded for Five Years for Allegedly Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Ordering Genetic Tests and Durable Medical Equipment

On December 20, 2023, in connection with the resolution of her False Claims Act liability, Lois Obert, Louisville, Kentucky, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for five years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Lois Obert received illegal remuneration from a telehealth company in exchange for medically unnecessary durable medical equipment and genetic testing referrals for Medicare beneficiaries with whom she had no prior physician-patient relationship. Senior Counsel Katie Fink represented OIG.
