Kadlec Regional Medical Center Agreed to Pay $8.9 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services that Did Not Meet Coverage Criteria

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Kadlec Regional Medical Center (Kadlec), Richland, Washington, agreed to pay $8,993,725.50 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Kadlec submitted claims to the Medicare Part A program for inpatient hospital stays that did not meet coverage criteria under the Medicare ōtwo-midnightö rule. OIG also alleged that Kadlec submitted claims to the Medicare Part B program for intravenous hydration administration for hospital outpatients in the emergency department that did not meet Medicare coverage criteria.
