Kadlec Regional Medical Center Agreed to Pay $14.3 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services that Did Not Meet Coverage Criteria

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Kadlec Regional Medical Center (KRMC), Washington, agreed to pay $14,351,283.06 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that KRMC submitted claims to the Medicare Part A program for inpatient rehabilitation stays that did not meet Medicare coverage criteria. KRMC’s self-disclosure was predicated on an audit conducted by OIG’s Office of Audit Services.
