Independence Home Healthcare and Jose Vincente Perez Agreed to Pay $377,000 and Be Excluded for 20 Years for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Employing an Excluded Individual and Paying Improper Remuneration

On January 8, 2024, Independence Home Healthcare, Inc. (IHH), and Jose Vincente Perez (Perez), California, entered into a settlement agreement with OIG in which they agreed to pay $377,773.70 and be excluded from participation in all Federal health care programs for 20 years. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that IHH and Perez employed an office manager who was excluded from participating in any Federal health care program. OIG further alleged that IHH and Perez paid remuneration to individuals in the form of checks in violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute. OIG’s Office of Investigations and Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, represented by Senior Counsels Gregory Becker and Jennifer Leonardis, collaborated to achieve this resolution.
