Graybill Medical Group Agreed to Pay $1 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Incident-to Services Not Covered and for Service by Uncredentialed Providers
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Graybill Medical Group, Inc (Graybill), California, agreed to pay $1,061,011.50 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Graybill submitted claims for: (1) services provided by non-physician providers (NPPs) but billed as “incident-to” a physician’s service when the services did not satisfy the incident-to requirements because the physician did not initiate the plan of care or remain actively involved in the course of treatment as required by the incident-to rules; and (2) services provided by NPPs who were not properly credentialed with Medicare or TRICARE.
