Franceene Geddings McKinney and IOS Consultants Agreed to Be Excluded for Three Years for Allegedly Submitting False Claims for Neurostimulators

On August 17, 2023, in connection with the resolution of their False Claims Act liability, Franceene Geddings McKinney (McKinney), Liberty Township, Ohio, and IOS Consultants, Inc. d/b/a Innovative Office Solutions (IOS Consultants), West Chester, Ohio, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for three years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that McKinney and IOS Consultants knowingly submitted or caused to be submitted false claims to Medicare by assisting providers in submitting claims using code L8679, which is designed for “implantable neurostimulator, pulse generator” devices that a surgeon implants into a patient typically in an operating room, when patients did not undergo surgery and did not have a neurostimulator implanted into their bodies.
