Encore at Turf Valley Agreed to Pay $36,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services Provided by Unlicensed Individuals
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Lorien Howard, Inc. d/b/a Encore at Turf Valley (ETV), Ellicott City, Maryland, agreed to pay $36,671.22 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that ETV submitted claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services provided by six unlicensed nursing assistants. Single damages were calculated as the full salary and benefits paid to the individual during the period they worked without a valid license.
