Dr. Jung Gook Lim and Northern Virginia Neurology & Headache Agreed to Pay $468,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Medically Unnecessary Services

On November 2, 2021, Dr. Jung Gook Lim and Northern Virginia Neurology & Headache, PLLC (collectively, “Dr. Lim”), Annandale, Virginia, entered into a $468,828 settlement agreement with OIG.  The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Dr. Lim submitted claims to Medicare for medically unnecessary: (1) nerve conduction studies; and (2) autonomic nervous system tests performed on the same date-of-service for the same patient as nerve conduction studies.  OIG's Office of Audit Services and Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, represented by Senior Counsels Gregory Becker and Geoffrey Hymans, collaborated to achieve this settlement.
